PROGRAM SUMMARY

UCAN coordinates a series of on-going housing activities that include advocating for the development and preservation of affordable housing, providing tenant counseling, helping tenants petition for needed repairs, and facilitating workshops on tenant empowerment initiatives.  UCAN provides housing services in community-based settings such as local churches and schools, and we make our services available at various public meetings.

HIGHLIGHTS

Affordable Housing
UCAN worked with partners in the new development of a 100 percent affordable housing development on Nagle Avenue in Inwood. Due to limited vacant land and other barriers to development, the low-income residents of Inwood and Washington Heights have not seen new affordable housing developments in decades. UCAN is a strong advocate to increase the supply of affordable housing throughout New York City.
