UCAN supports cultural events and artistic opportunities to encourage positive expression and creativity, especially among our youth. UCAN strives to promote art as a vehicle that encourages learning, communication, collective pride, civic participation, community enrichment, and entrepreneurship.

| IV Inwood Family Fair.- August 3rd 11.00 - 6.00 Sherman Avenue |
| UCAN hosts the annual Inwood Family Fair, which is an exciting day-long event for families and youth to celebrate the many cultural activities and community resources within the Inwood area of Upper Manhattan. The festival brings together residents, parents, youth, non-profit organizations, and businesses to engage in a positive community activity, through arts and music. |
| Youth Performance & Art Showcase |
The Upper Manhattan Council Assisting Neighbors (UCAN) and Christ Community United church will host the 3rd Anniversary of the 'Upper Manhattan Youth Performance and Art showcase' in partnership with NYC Council Member Miguel Martinez, the Department of Education Region 10, and C.O.D.E.S. on Friday, May 30, 2008 at the United Palace Theater (located at 175Th street Broadway, Washington Heights).
The Art Showcase at the entranceway will start at 5pm with live music played by young musicians, and the Youth Talent show will begin at 6pm in the theater. The show is free also open to the public and is part of an effort to foster safe, healthy activities for youth. As you may know, the youth today dont have too many options. On that night the theaters massive stage will be shared by an array of dancers, singers, poets and young musicians. The objective is to show young people that they have support within their own community. We also encourage them to become our local idols.
We ask for your support in covering a beautiful night that will forever live in the hearts of our future leaders.
